Tadoba is a wildlife sanctuary in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state in India, widely known as Maharashtra’s oldest and largest national park. Besides being India’s premier tiger reserve, it also boasts an incredible variety of mammals, like elusive Indian leopards, the powerful gaur (Indian bison), sloth bears, swift and agile dhole (Indian wild dog), nilgai (blue bull), sambar deer, barking deer, chital (spotted deer), and the rare four-horned antelope (chousingha). The park is also an absolute delight for bird lovers and reptile enthusiasts.

Legend holds that Taru was a village chief who was killed in a mythological encounter with a tiger. A shrine dedicated to the God Taru now exists beneath a huge tree, on the banks of the Tadoba Lake.

The temple is frequented by Adivasis, especially during the fair held every year in the Hindu month of Pausha, between December and January. The Gond kings once ruled these forests in the vicinity of the Chimur hills. Hunting was completely banned in 1935.

I stayed at Jungle Meadows for 3 nights during my latest Tadoba trip.. This hotel is very near to Kolara gate. Accommodation, food , service were very good.. hotel staffs are very polite and helpful. Rooms are clean and well maintained.. Owner Kunal is very helpful and he guides me choosing the best possible gates for safaris. If you are looking for a good location, simple but neat and clean accommodation, tasty food and good services then just go for Jungle Meadows..

Best comfortable and homestay place in Tadoba. This was my 3rd visit here and it never disappoints. All minute requirements are met and guests here will also have the best of home style pure and fresh food served hot by the amazingly trained staff. The safari prep is also on point. Stay here was real pleasure, excellent service, great respect and very friendly attitude from all the staff members. Food served was very delicious and healthy especially the way they served deserves lots of appreciation, whatever we ask was provided smilingly. Arrangements for wildlife safari was also well done with great punctuality in pick up and drops. The wet napkins provided on return from safari was great idea which gave a refreshing feel immediately. Totaly enjoyed the trip to Tadoba and stay at Jungle Meadows…kudos to entire team.
